STEPS Home Care is a White Plains-based, family run organization whose founders are passionate about helping seniors to stay safe and comfortable at home while maintaining their independence.   Our philosophy is a result of caring for our own families, seeing the good and bad aspects of home care, and deciding to do it the right way.

Our philosophy is a result of witnessing first hand the good and bad aspects of home care. We decided to change the common approach to home care, and do it the right way.

Shan Wade

Shan co-founded STEPS in 2011. He oversees Business Development, Recruitment, and Strategy. He helped start the company after witnessing the fulfillment his wife, Lisa, experienced helping families through Steps Therapy.

Shan’s first home care experience was seeing his Mom take over the care for each of her parents and then her husband. He was later thrust into the role of sole Caregiver when his Mom became ill. Based on his personal experiences and the resulting awareness of critical issues in the industry, he decided to find a better way.

Shan previously worked in the Staffing & Recruitment industry for 10 years. That experience helps STEPS attract the highest quality Caregivers.

Jen Martire Baukol

Jen co-founded STEPS Home Care, and oversees Operations and Strategy. She grew up in Westchester, and went to college in Fairfield, CT. She now lives with her husband and three children.

Her love of family led her to STEPS Home Care. She wanted to find her grandparents Caregivers, who would care for them as diligently as she would. She saw a need for a better process and structure to facilitate a more personal home care experience. She wants to elevate the standard of care for not only the client, but for their entire family.

A business professional with a strong entrepreneurial mind, Jen holds an M.B.A. in Business Administration from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.

Lisa Martire Wade

Lisa co-founded STEPS Home Care in 2011, and serves on the Leadership Committee.  She is also currently CEO of Steps Therapy, which she founded in 2007 in San Francisco, CA.

Lisa has had a lifelong passion for working with children. She has over 17 years experience working with families.  Her experience includes providing supervision for home-based programming, and being the ABA Director for a large New York City agency.

Aida has over four years experience in a healthcare setting, 3 of which is in Home Care. She has previously worked as a Coordinator and in HR at Premier Home Health Care in White Plains. Making her clients feel safe and cared for is her main goal, which she hopes to achieve on a daily basis.

“STEPS Home Care was recommended to me after a difficult period using a different agency for Home Health Aides to care for my ailing father. Our family was at a point where we were considering the need to move him to a facility because the Home Aides we had been using could not care for him properly. From my first phone call to Shan Wade it was clear that I had found a professional and well-run agency that genuinely made an effort to understand our situation and find us the help that we needed.

Every Aide that they sent us was well trained and took excellent care of my father. The office was able to handle all questions and administrative details with ease and made a difficult situation much easier for all of us. My father received excellent care up until his passing and it was the help and care we received from STEPS that enabled us to keep him at home until the end. Having a good point of comparison to other agencies we had used, I recommend them without hesitation.”
